Free storage

Staying organized is always a challenge. Stuff collects and gets out of hand.

There are lots of everyday throw-away items you can use to stay organized. Get creative in your search. Instead of looking at an object's label, look at its size and shape. Match that to what you're trying to store and you've got a winning combination. You'll be able to save a few coins and pat yourself on the back for being so clever.

Sturdy shoe boxes are terrific for storing gloves and scarves. They also work well as a container for envelopes and greeting cards.

Tackle boxes are ideal for storing nails, screws, small tools or even your makeup. The small sections are perfect for separating earrings, bracelets and chain necklaces.

Silverware organizers in the drawers of your bathroom cabinet are good for toothbrushes, hair combs or any of the other myraid of items that seem to live on the countertops.

Keep plastic grocery bags in a two-pound coffee can or empty facial tissue box.

Don't throw away those pretty glass containers after the candle has burned away. Clean them out and use them for small guest soaps, cosmetic puffs and Q-tips in the bathroom or display shells and potpourri.
